Sordid Lives
Del Shores' black comedy covers two chaotic days in a small Texas town, after the family matriarch dies from a fall in a seedy motel room during a rendezvous with a legless war veteran — bringing three generations of her eccentric, dysfunctional family back together, including a gay grandson bracing to come out to them.
Though not literally autobiographical, it draws on Shores' own experience of growing up gay in rural Texas.
