Ladies in Black
A coming of age story of a young, intelligent, bookworm embarking on a summer job between completing her Leaving Certificate & hopefully starting a Literature degree at Sydney University. Set in a Sydney department store in the late 1950s, this Australian musical follows schoolgirl Lisa's summer job among the "ladies in black" of the frocks department, as she's drawn into a world of glamour and change on the eve of the 1960s. Based on the 1993 novel The Women in Black by Madeleine St John, with music and lyrics by Tim Finn and book by Carolyn Burns, it's been described as a celebration of glamour, gowns, and growing up.
