Travelling North

David Williamson's acclaimed 1979 play follows Frank, a retired engineer in his seventies, and Frances, his younger companion, as they leave Melbourne for a warmer life in northern Australia. Set against the contrasting backdrops of Melbourne and a tropical stretch of the Queensland coast, it explores love, aging, and family as Frank's health gradually deteriorates. Williamson based the story on his mother-in-law's real-life relationship.
